CASEY HARPER-WOOD

Costume Designer

Casey Harper-Wood is a set and costume designer whose work has been seen in venues from Arts Centre Melbourne to a former convent, extending to fashion runways, music videos, and television commercials.

Casey’s recent design highlights include The Mentor starring Amanda Muggleton (Theatre Works) and the Australian premiere of Lachlan Philpott’s promiscuous/cities at Midsumma 2023, for which Casey’s costumes were nominated for an Australian Production Design Guild Award. Other credits include projects at fortyfivedownstairs, Arts House Meat Market, Dancehouse, Union House Theatre, St Martins Youth Arts Centre, Riot Stage, The Smith Company, Darebin Speakeasy, Theatre Works, and La Mama.

Screen credits as a production designer and/or costume stylist include music videos for Justin Bieber, Something For Kate, The Cat Empire, and Alison Wonderland, as well as television commercials for Rebel, Blue Illusion, and NAB. Event design highlights include runway events for Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival, Melbourne Spring Fashion Week, and Emporium Melbourne.

In 2022, Casey assisted Kate Davis on Looking For Alibrandi (Malthouse/Belvoir) and YES (The Rabble). He has also assisted designers including Richard Roberts, Christina Smith, Zoë Atkinson, and Adam Gardnir on productions for most major theatre and opera companies.

Casey completed undergraduate and master’s degrees in theatre design at the VCA, where he was awarded the Trina Parker Scholarship in Design, and now sessionally lectures in the School of Design and Production.

Carousel: A Concert is Casey’s fourth collaboration with director Petra Kalive and his first with Enda Markey.
